Bobby Bates Wrestling Classic

Starts tomorrow Dec. 16 and goes into Saturday Dec. 17. At the new Convocation Center on the campus of CVC (aka UVA at Wise).

Going to be some good wrestling. 16 man brackets. I believe all are full but 3 weight classes.

Teams that I know are coming:
Central
Union
Lebanon
Castlewood
Grundy
Va. High
John Battle
Floyd County
Abington
Glenvar
Rual Retreat
Chilhowie
Graham
Daniel Boone

That's 14 of the teams that I know of off the top of my head.
If anyone has the other teams please share.

how is Union doing on the mat? I havent heard but I sure am curious. I have heard that Central is burning it up which is what was expected.

I have only seen union at the scrimmage we had at Central. Reggie and Zack are there two best wrestlers. I do know they went to DB last weekend. Haven't heard how they did.

As far as Central we went to Daniel Boone to a Duals match. 8 Teams 2 pools. Central went 4-1, lost to Abington 42-39 in finals. We had a couple of kids out taking SAT. So some kids had to wrestle up a weight class.

Reggie Hamilton is a hellluva wrestler for Union. He is built like a wrestler, and competes all across the country.

yeah I believe so. There are a few state champs, runner ups and placers from last year. Grundy my win it as a team but it's going to be good. Floyd County as a team was runner up last year.
